Orlando: Much more than just Amusement Parks

Orlando: Much more than just Amusement Parks

Orlando is almost synonymous with Walt Disney World and its theme parks; but there’s so much more to Orlando than just these. In fact, you will never run out of things to do or see in Orlando, Florida. The best part is that several attractions lie within easy driving distance of each other. Here’s a guide/recommendation on what to do in Florida apart from parks and Disneys:

Kennedy Space Center: Located approximately an hour’s drive from the Orlando area, KSC is the launching pad for America’s space programme and is a major central Florida tourist destination. The Visitor Complex sits on Merritt Island, and offers public tours of the centre and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Visitors can also take a bus tour of the space center display, making stops at launch pads.

Daytona International Speedway: A race track in Daytona Beach, Daytona International Speedway is the “World Center of Racing”; and has been the home of the Daytona 500 – one of the most prestigious races in NASCAR. Besides NASCAR, the track also hosts races of ARCA, AMA Superbike, Grand-Am and Motocross. The complex also always has some racing activity or the other happening.

Hot Air Balloon Rides: Ever thought of viewing the stunning Orlando from over a thousand feet in the air? Here’s your chance to do just that! You can go in small groups and drift weightlessly over swamps and forests. What’s more? Enjoy a traditional champagne toast on touchdown that comes with most tours.

Arabian Nights Dinner Show: Located in Central Florida, Arabian Nights feature riders and acrobats performing with more than 60 horses. The entire Arabian Nights performance and dinner show is hosted inside the Palace of Horses, the world's largest indoor equestrian arena for a permanent show, where more than 14 different breeds of horses are trained and cared for by the dedicated staff of this amazing dinner theatre production.

The list is endless really. There are much more sights to see and things you can do in Orlando; we are just scratching the surface here. Why don’t you add your favourite ones in the comment below and share it with us?
