Universal Studios, Orlando is constantly reinventing itself. Ever since it opened its doors to visitors in mid 1990 it has taken down old rides and attractions and set up new ones. Even the two that still survive its opening have been remodelled and rebuilt. All the original attractions have been replaced with high-tech ones themed to the latest movies and concepts.
The regular make-overs have kept folks flocking to the park. Universal, Orlando has developed more in another thrill-providing surge.
Transformers: The Ride – 3D
Prepare for the greatest battle of your life. You will find yourself literally in the midst of the swirling, roaring action fighting alongside Optimus Prime. Only you, a NEST recruit, and the Autobots can hold off the destructive intentions of the Decepticons as they attempt to retrieve the AllSpark, which is somewhere on Earth.
TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D is so good that you are unable to distinguish between the game and reality. So good are the 3D effects of the ride that Michael Bay wished he could make his movies feel the same way!
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
This ride is designed to tickle your funny bone. It is a funny adventure where your high-definition 3D ride involves you racing around Gru’s home in his latest plot after being recruited and undergoing training, of course. You will become one of his Minions and travel through his laboratory. The hilarious story is fuelled by the voice-overs of the original stars of the movie Despicable Me.
The experience kicks off as you wait in line to join the ride. You get to learn about Gru, Dr. Nefario, the Minions and the others. You are then given a test to see if you are ready to become a Minion. At the end of your ride a door opens and you find yourself slap-bang in the middle of a dance party with a Minion for a partner.
The Amazing Adventures of Spider Man
Like the character, the new, upgraded Spider Man ride installed at Orlando is amazing. The spinning, twisting ride has won the World’s Best Attraction Awards several times. The ride will take you swinging through the city on an assignment for J. Jonah Jameson.
The refurbished ride incorporates new 4K, Infitec 3D projection technology that has incredible in-your-face detail as you soar above the city streets in the company of your friendly neighbourhood web-slinger. Spidey (and you) speed and crash into skyscrapers and even take a gut-wrenching 400 foot drop to foil the plot of the Sinister Syndicate who have stolen the Statue of Liberty.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Escape From Gringotts
This is the second and latest of the Harry Potter rides. Themed around Diagon Alley it is connected to the original Hogsmeade attraction by the Hogwarts Express. The attraction includes shops such as Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Borgin and Burkes, the Leaky Cauldron, Florean Fortesque and Knockturn Alley.
The centre piece however is the rip-roaring ride through the deep underground caverns below Gringotts Bank. It is a breath-taking, multi-dimensional 3D ride through the dim vaults with villains, trolls and other dark creatures trying to stop you. At the end of your journey you will really feel you have evaded a scary fate.
The addition of these four new rides is sure to energise the attendance figures.
