The Orlando Shakespeare Theater is 25 and still putting on a great show! Come September this little gem on Orlando’s cultural tapestry will kick off its 25th Anniversary Season with a fund- raising Gala. The funds will go towards putting great theater on its stage boards. There will be a great mix of the classics and brand new productions.

There will be plenty of action on and off the stage as The Orlando Shakespeare Theater celebrates the vision, dedication and passion of founder Stuart Omans, former Professor of the University of Central Florida.

The Orlando Shakespeare Theater is one of the best live entertainment options in Orlando’s crowded space. The Theater puts on established traditional classic repertoire coupled with contemporary plays. There is the regular Harriett Lake Festival of New Plays, Theater for Young Audiences and numerous instruction courses and events throughout the year for young and aspiring theatre enthusiasts.

It is also probably one of the most rewarding because what they perform provides superb fare for all ages and tastes. The group puts on marvellous plays and seems to find really talented actors and actresses to perform in them.

The stage and interiors recreate the Elizabethan era settings, which provides an excellent backdrop and feel when Shakespeare is being performed. The intimacy of the stage ensures that you are drawn in and feel like you are a part of the action. The great bit about the Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s productions is that they do Shakespeare in both the traditional style and also in a contemporary setting. That will continue this season.

The Orlando Shakespeare Theater has lined up a whole catalogue of shows that includes an adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby, The Taming of the Shrew, Julius Caesar, Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan Harker and the ever popular feel-good It’s a Wonderful Life.

On the modern/original front there will be premieres of The Cortez Method and Pluto.  For the younger audiences there will be performances of Sleeping Beauty, A Night in New Orleans: A Magic Treehouse Adventure, and a funny musical version of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.

The 25th milestone is going to be truly memorable with the company’s signature productions that make theatre accessible and interactive for all ages. The Orlando Shakespeare Theatertruly enriches our lives.

The gala opens the season on 8th September 2013.
