Every weekend from mid May till 8th June 2014, in a galaxy not very far away, many characters from both sides of The Force descend to Earth to meet, greet and interact with us, the natives. You don’t need to get into a space cruiser and do a hyperspace jump. Just get behind the wheel of your own earth-rover vehicle and drive over to the Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Remember that iconic bar scene, filled with amazing creatures from across the galaxy, when Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobie are looking for a spaceship ride? Just like that time your eyes will pop and jaw drop as you stare in wonder. All your cherished Star Wars and Clone Wars screen characters casually stroll past you in their costumed glory. Watch out for those storm troopers ‘cause they just might pick you up and subject you to their special interrogation techniques.
The 2014 edition of Star Wars Weekends is bigger, better and closer than ever before. You will be invited to “Join the Rebellion,” the theme for this year. The Friday to Sunday, every weekend, schedules are jam-packed with cosmic entertainment.
Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), David Prowse (Darth Vader), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and hundreds of other memorable characters that have been a part of the Star Wars saga will be there. You will get plenty of opportunities to see, meet and get their autographs and your photo taken with them.
Even more appetising, Walt Disney has made it possible to have a meal alongside your favourite character from the movies – heroes or villains! Another super attraction is the Jedi Training Academy where kids (under 12 years) are given jedi robes and a Lightsaber to hone their skills against the likes of Darth Vader and other opponents. Wish they had sessions for grownups too! Last year’s special “cast yourself in Carbonite” experience continues. You can choose to have yourself cast as a Storm Trooper.
And if your appetite for the spectacular has not been satisfied, there are huge firework shows accompanied by John Williams’ familiar signature music.
Star Wars Weekends 2014 is something special and phenomenal. You really will experience The Force.
